ABOUT THE HOST
Pune has long been celebrated as a centre of learning, scholarship, and progressive thinking. With a rich legacy in art, culture, education, law, science, engineering, politics, trade, commerce, manufacturing, and knowledge-based services, it continues to thrive as a vibrant hub of intellectual and professional excellence.
The Pune International Centre (PIC) was established to provide a dedicated platform for informed discussion, debate, and the exchange of ideas—a space where thinkers could collaborate to imagine the future of Pune, India, and the world. Founded by eminent individuals including (Late) B.G. Deshmukh and (Late) Mohan Dharia, PIC stands as a premier institution for intellectual engagement and policy dialogue.
"PIC is committed to upholding the values of the Indian Constitution and the UN Charter. Its mission is rooted in fostering informed dialogue, encouraging inclusive thinking, and bringing diverse communities into conversations that shape society."
THE ARTS & CULTURE VISION
PIC envisions a vibrant, neutral platform that reflects and enriches the diverse cultural landscape of Pune—a space where the arts and culture transcend boundaries, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue where art meets science, music with dance, and theatre blends with visual arts. PIC recognizes art as a powerful medium for reflection and change.
ABOUT THE EVENT
T.M. Krishna's collaboration with the Jogappas sparks a rare artistic and social dialogue between communities and musical practices that traditionally exist far apart. This partnership challenges ingrained social norms, addresses inequality, and brings visibility to a community often pushed to the margins.
The result is a thoughtful, sensitive, and groundbreaking exchange—one that not only produces compelling music but also provokes reflection and raises essential questions about society through the medium of art.
"When PIC's vision aligns with Krishna's artistic and social commitment, the result is a compelling synergy—one that positions art not merely as performance, but as a force for public engagement, cultural connection, and societal progress."
